Pilot Details

The UDIT Program involves a hands-on approach to proactively meeting the needs of the diverse student population here at UCCS.

The pilot has 10 vacancies available and the application deadline is April 30th.

  • Participants will be selected according to their availability to commit to and complete all phases of the Program as well as modify the course targeted for the program.
  • Upon successful completion of the UDIT Program pilot, participating faculty will earn a $250 stipend and the UDIT digital badge representing the following learning outcomes:
    • Identify UCCS diverse student population and their needs for academic success
    • Describe the support services that exist on campus
    • Identify one’s own teaching preferences and bias impact on a diverse student population
    • Define the fundamental concepts of the Universal Design for Learning framework
    • Describe how the Universal Design for Learning framework can support diverse learners
    • Reflect on one’s beliefs about teaching to maximize self-awareness and commitment to inclusion
    • Apply the concept of Universal Design for Learning to current course design and teaching practices

The pilot is divided into three phases:

  1. Online Course (June 2020) - Self-paced modules that prepare faculty for implementing inclusive practices into a Fall 2020 course with the support of an instructional designer
  2. Course Implementation (Fall 2020 term) - Applies chosen UDL strategies into a core or high-enrollment, face-to-face course with the support of the faculty group and UDIT Program experts
  3. Course Evaluation and Revision (December 2020) – Concludes the pilot with a post-course evaluation to measure the impact on student success as well as the opportunity to refine and expand UDL course practices.

Eligibility

Anyone who will be teaching a core or high-enrollment, face-to-face (unless deemed remote) course in the Fall 2020 term at UCCS. This includes full-time, part-time, honoraria, and faculty with special appointments.
